Nepal, the land of ups and down, the only
flatland on the Gangetic plains of southern
Terai running east to west, nevertheless it
offers a challenging to pleasant scenic ride
from the tropical plains of Terai, Mediterranean
mild mid-mountainous lush valleys to the arctic
climate of the high alpine region. The only way
to discover these hidden treasure land and
villages with its warm ever-smiling people is by
a walking journey or on mountain bikes.
Mountain biking is great fun and a perfect way
to discover Nepal's great diverse landscape and
culture, of tremendous terrain's, tracks and
trails. Where mountain bike takes you away from
the hustle bustle of the city-town life into
serene country life, on a hidden trail rarely
visited area of local villages, its traditional
rural life style that has preserved for
centuries.
Mountain biking is a great way to explore the
Kathmandu valley or to follow the trail to the
plains of Terai or bike to the legendary yak and
yeti trail to Everest or other Himalayan
destination, which allows you to experience the
tranquility of rural Nepal in the shadow of the
Himalaya.

Kathmandu-Bungmati-Chapagaon-Kathmandu
Introduction:
A pleasant scenic rides on the back alley of the
old city and head towards the village of Khokna
and Bungmati and to explore the villages from
14th century. The temple of Macchindranath (god
of yielding good harvest) situated in the main
square of Bungmati, worshiped by both Hindus and
Buddhist, our journey from here continues on a
jeep track to the village of Champi with few ups
and down hill to reach the Chapagaon village
situated on the southern tip of the Kathmandu
Valley, Chapagaon a rural village, at present
its growing slowly into modernisation, Chapagaon
is famed for its temple of Vajravarahi, one of
the many out of 9th reincarnation of lord Vishnu
in the form of a Boar. The temple is surrounded
by an old forest, protected by the local belief
that to cut even a single tree would anger the
deity, until now the villagers still worship the
wrathful Vishnu by offering a weekly blood
sacrifice of chicken, goat and buffaloes. After
a pleasant de-tour of the villages and its
temple we then pack our two-wheel friend in the
van for the two hour drive back to busy
colourful street of Kathmandu.

medieval civilisation in and around the vicinity
of Bhaktapur, with ample time to visit and make

villagers as our journey continues to the famed
scenic viewpoint at Nagarkot the highest spot of
our journey with beautiful view of the sun rise
and sunset with the magnificent Himalayan back

Biking on the
elusive mountain trail of Nepal

Introduction:
From Kathmandu, we take the flight to the
southeastern plains to the busy town of
Biratnagar the boarding on a smaller Twin-Otter
flight to the isolated airstrip of Suketar at
Taplejung the gateway to the 3rd highest
mountain the Kanchenjunga.
This is a high mountain village situated at the
foothills of the huge massif Kanchenjunga, from
here our adventure begins, and over the next
five days the route just seems better and
better, mixing with thrilling descents with
challenging climbs, slowly winding leading the
way to the border with India.
This is a north to south traverse, and each of
the passes rewards with a magnificent panorama
that stretch from Everest to Kanchenjunga.
In the first five days covers 240kms. With an
awesome 5000 meters of ascent and even more
adventurous is the 6800meteres of descent, and
this is only first half of your holiday.
For the second half of this ground breaking
trip, we return to Kathmandu and complete
further five days of biking on the ridge top
trails which encircles the valley's rim, away
from the hustle-bustle of the city life, the
pace of the life changes remarkably.
Within a space of a day's ride, there are views,
which includes most of the main peaks of the
central and Nepal Himalaya-from Mt. Makalu to
the Annapurnas.

at Taplejung and camp.
Day05: Bike and descent 40kms towards Kabeli
River to meet the road head
and our support vehicle.
Day06: Bike and ascent 1500m over a distance of
32kms at Jor-Pokhari and
camp.
Day07: 22km downhill with another 10 km uphill
ride to Phidhim and bus
drive to the top of the Pauwa pass at 2560m and
camp.
Day08: Bike for 55 kms to Ilam town 1350m and
camp at the suburb of the
town.
Day09: Bike to Mai-khola 12km down and 25km to
the top of Fickle pass, from here bike about 32
km all the way down to Charhale, on the
same day Bus drive to Biratnagar (as this road
gets busy with heavy buses & trucks traffic)
Day10: Fly back to Kathmandu.
Day11: Rest day preparation for the next
adventure.
Day12: Bike for 32 kms through the town-villages
of Patan and Panauti via
Lubu.
Day13: Bike to Dhulikhel via Namobuddha about 25
kms.
Day14: Bike to Nagarkot via the medieval town of
Bhaktapur. (35km ride)
Day15: Bike to Chisopani ridge and camp. Approx
4 hours ride with 1 hour
walk. (bikes needs to be carried by porters on
this day)
Day16: Bike to Shivapuri hill 2300m with
downhill ride to Kathmandu. Approx- 6 hours
ride.
Day17: In Kathmandu. O/N Hotel.
Day18: International Departure.
